There are certain red flags that suggest you need to think about myasthenia. One of the key signs is variability in symptoms.
For example, swallowing may be good in the morning but gets worse as the day goes on.
Someone might start a meal and swallow just fine, but then it begins to get really difficult. Another common issue is that the voice can become nasal after talking for a long time.
This is something I often hear from people who are public speakers. Their main concern is that their voice changes when they speak, and their articulation changes as well.
Those kinds of changes — symptoms that worsen with use or over the course of the day — are the things that should raise red flags.
