MG may have saved my life
A week before Labor Day I followed MG temperature guidelines of going to the ED if it’s over 101.4°F. I had no other symptoms than shivering violently at 102°F. But I was diagnosed with pneumonia and given an antibiotic which seemed to work for 4-5 days. Then my temperature climbed again. If I had not been warned as an MG patient to go to the ED again, I would have gone to bed a week later with 102°F, plus undetected hypoxia and low blood pressure–all signs of sepsis which can be deadly if you don’t receive IV antibiotics immediately. This time I was hospitalized 4 days, received IV antibiotics starting in the ED, and got breathing treatments. MG guidelines may have saved my life. Don’t ignore them!
