Public transportation has many pros and cons for people with rare diseases and disabilities. Between carrying on medical equipment, relying on drivers to strap wheelchair users in properly, and travel anxieties, it can be stressful.

When I had to board a bus while I had weakness in my legs, I was scared I would fall or get weird looks from people for going so slow up the stairs.

What’s been your experience with using public transportation? Do you have tips for making it more manageable?
