Short Bio |
I was diagnosed at seventeen when a first year university student. Life was really really difficult (40 tablets per day) and I underwent thymectomy at twenty years (I was the sixth thymectomy in Australia). There was gradual improvement and I worked as a vocational psychologist for 13 years, then ran a ceramics studio for many years, and finally, after much help from a homoeopath I went into remission, trained in herbal medicine and massage therapy! I am now seventy seven, retired and taking 20mg Mestinon per day. I volunteer as a massage therapist in a nursing home and myasthenically speaking, am very well. I don’t drive as don’t thoroughly trust diplopia, so walk everywhere. I am one of the lucky ones! I think my Grandma was an undiagnosed myasthenic as she was bedridden for a long time in the 1950’s.
