Many people search for information about stress as an MG trigger, especially when emotional strain seems to make symptoms worse. Stress doesn’t just live in the mind — it shows up in the body, and MG tends to amplify that connection.

In my experience, stress can flip my symptoms faster than almost anything else. Even when I think I’m handling things well, my body tells the truth before I do. My voice fades into a whisper, my muscles weaken, and suddenly I’m reminded that emotional load is a physical load too.

I’ve had to learn new ways of managing stress — not to eliminate it, but to soften its impact on my body.

How does stress affect your MG? Have you noticed a connection between emotional load and symptom flares?

Yep, my worst enemy. Convinced stress brought on MG to begin with. I wish I knew how to deal with it better. Breathing, Yoga, meditation, acupuncture and on and on, we are all different, none of those worked for me but………..mind over matter, just have to be strong😇 and tell yourself, you can beat this and do it……better.

It’s not about suffering through it or pushing through. Asking for help is its own form of strength. You just haven’t found what works for you yet.

One of the things I use is called CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy). it takes work and constant self talk, but it helps. One of the biggest hurdles for me is trying to control or take responsibility for things that I can’t control or am not responsible for. A mantra I often repeat to myself is “not my circus, not my monkeys”. Not sure why, but it helps put things in perspective.

Exactly, that’s what I was trying to say. Mind over matter.

I don’t feel like stress worsens my symptoms, but when I am exposed to stress for the long term ( like 2 weeks), it always ends with a flare-up period

That’s great that short bouts of stress don’t seem to flare ya up. Sounds like you have a high tolerance for “cumulative stress load”. 🙂
