MG and Ataxia
Is it possible to have both and how could that be tested?

I have gMG and ataxia. While ataxia isn’t widely known as a symptom of MG it can be.
I work with a neurological physical therapist on balance & safe mobility & I highly recommend doing it.
I also use a Balancewear weighted vest which helps a lot to keep me stable on my feet.
For me none of the treatments has made an improvement- I’m focusing on doing what I can to adapt & stay safe.

I take Pyridostigmine and it helps! Some manufacture’s make it better than others. I a Vet and go to the VA and the brand changes from time to time and so does the helfulness. Double Vision is the worst. Good luck with your treatment.

First it was MG, then gMG, now Ataxit. My walking and balance are horrible. Nothing can help this stop happening.

When i came out of a 7 week stay in the hospital and rehabilitation i had an static gait and was discharged from the rehab as failure to progress and told I would be wheelchair bound for life, but instead of being diagnosed as ataxia,I was diagnosed as FND. The interesting thing was I recieved retuxan when I was discharged.and 10 weeks later I was walking again and only had balance issues but no ataxic gait. I returned after the retuxan wore off but once again went away with retuxan.

I have both MG and Gait Ataxia. Around the house I use a rollator but away from home I have to rely on an electric wheelchair. Ataxia was diagnosed 1st and later Seronegative Myasthenia Gravis.

Yes, it is possible to have both MG (Myasthenia Gravis) and Ataxia, though it’s rare. To test for it, doctors would typically do a combination of blood tests, imaging (like MRI), and possibly a nerve conduction study to check how the nervous system is functioning.
