For those of you who have not yet heard, the National Organization for Rare Disorders offers really meaningful financial assistance for people with rare disorders, which includes those with MG. They offer reimbursement for medical insurance premiums, prescription insurance co-pays, Medicare and Medigap premiums. treatment-related travel expenses and other benefits. The annual cap is $20,000 per grantee.

I have been receiving this support for several months now, and if you haven’t already, I urge you to contact them.  There are no strings attached, the money is considered a tax-free gift, and the payments have been made within days of my submission of receipts.

Their phone number is (860) 498-4307; their email contact is at [email protected]. You will have to agree to a HIPAA release, then they will fax your doctor for confirmation of your diagnosis, That’s it.

This can be a real blessing for many people. I know it sounds too good to be true, but it is absolutely real.

Thank you!  Is there an income requirement?

Yes,  these are the approximate maximum numbers, I believe, but you should check further with NORD.

Sorry about the HTML failure. The requirements are based on 400%. of the federal poverty line. Family of one: about $48,000; two $64,000, etc.

Call them. They are nice people.

If your doctor says you can’t work due to potential covid exposure, they also offer support for your lost income. I haven’t looked into that, but it could be worthwhile for many people. The annual cap is $20,000 per patient. And it’s considered a tax free gift by the IRS.
