Profile

I was diagnosed in 1991 and it was a really terrible ordeal. I was misdiagnosed initially and if it wasnt for a second opinion initiated by a friend I only had 4 days to live.  I had my thymus removed and then trying a multitude if drugs.  It has been very difficult to find the balance.  I have continued my plasmapherisis.  Now every 4 weeks.  On prendisone 7-1/2/day and Rituximab once yearly.  Unfortunately being on Immuran over many years has made my skin susceptible to melanomas and skin cancers- which I have removed regularly and in February last severed my quadricep due to long term steroids but unfortunately these are choices that had to be made to stay well.  I still work 4 days a week and am now 63 years old.
