- I developed Myasthenia Gravis as a college student. Struggled with it through graduate school, my early career, ย the newlywed years and the birth of my daughterโฆ. With no formal answers. ย Was finally diagnosed at 34, and developed a large thymoma just a year later. ย Going through a divorce, back to grad school for a second time- while teaching in an inner city high school- ย and learning to co- parent internationally, all coincided with my MG becoming becoming more refractive. ย These days Iโm sadly out on disability (not really loving this Medicade lifestyle) and trying to figure out who I am, ย now that my daughter is off at school and I havenโt got 173 students and 2 other art teachers depending on me. ย I love IVIG, hรขte PLEX, ย think that Rituxan rocks, that prednisone should be used on anorexics (because hey, where the heck have those 15 lbs a year come from since Iโve been on it?!) and that the jury is still out on Vyvgart. ย I find something positive about every day, but have had a lot of tearful ones too, and I stopped counting my hospitalizations once they exceeded 38. ย I love reading about other โzebra storiesโ (I canโt really get into the whole graceful snowflake analogy) and my goal this month is to get out of a wheelchair again and back into the pool at the YMCA!
