Short Bio

I had symptoms for many years before I was diagnosed with MG in 2005.  It wasn’t until I started having double vision that doctors finally realized it wasn’t all in my head.  I have severe generalized MG, with difficulty walking, swallowing,  and breathing.   I was in and out of the hospital many times until they added plasmapheresis to my twice a month IVIG routine.  I’m on mestinon 3 x a day, but can’t take immune suppressants because I also have very low immunoglobulin levels, so am immune suppressed.  I also have 6 other autoimmune diseases. Even with the above mentioned treatments,  I am having an exacerbation, and will spend the next 9 or 10 days in the hospital getting plasmapheresis 2 days on, 1 day off.  I’m hoping it will get me walking again and help with my breathing.  Right now  I’m on oxygen.  I also have trouble keeping my eyes open.   My lids want to droop, especially on the left side.  I like to listen to ebooks when I am like this.  Sometimes it feels too hard to keep on keeping on, but my wonderful family and friends keep me going.  Today a bunch of friends wheeled me to the movies, and we had a great time.  That kind of thing keeps me going.
