Sometimes the solitude doesn’t come from one big decision. It just kind of happens over time as you start adjusting your life around MG. Those adjustments slowly shape our routines, work, and social life in ways other people don’t always see.
For me, being diagnosed during the pandemic added another layer to that. Between the general isolation and then starting immunosuppressants, I became much more cautious about being around people. Over time I realized some friendships had naturally faded because people didn’t fully understand why my life had shifted so much.
Even now, as my life has moved more toward remote work and more controlled environments to accommodate my health, it can be hard to line that up with the pace of other people’s lives. It’s a strange space where you’re adapting to take care of yourself, but that adaptation can quietly change our social world too. It’s comforting to know we have this space to find each other who do get it🫶
