• Are We in Danger

Am I the only one that is scared what will happen if the proposed nomination for HHS is confirmed. His past statements have been he will stop work on infectious diseases. Well as an immune compromised individual that is personal to me. All it will take is one bad respiratory disease and I am toast. His views are wacko, in direct conflict with scientifically proven disease information and consensus of the medical community. His anti vaccination stance will result in people dying…we saw that happen because of him if foreign countries. And he has no experience running a large organization. In his confirmation hearing he didn’t even know he was over Medicare which provides my health insurance.

I am scared. Is it just?

This isn’t the place for political discussions

I agree with DogMom. There are sites to express your political issues; this site is not one of them.

I hear your fear. Those of us who are sero negative, have endured gaslighting by MDs,have a tenuous stability, on Medicare and SS carry huge amounts of stress. It was insensitive of other responders to relegate fear to banal politics.

I was terrified by unexplained Mestinon shortages last year as this allowing me to eat, breathe, live independently…nothing big ,right? I recently got a letter saying mestinon/pyridostigmine won’t be covered ‘try something else’. Of course this med is accepted as frontline treatment in every other country.

I think we need to support each other in the insecurity of illness and living in the US

I agree with Cheryl. Your fear is real. I got MG about a month before COVID. Since that time I’ve carefully avoided large gatherings, mask when shopping, get COVID and flu shots and have lived a fairly hermetic existence. Fortunately/unfortunately my wife is also immunocompromised with RA. A couple of years ago, after a surgery and recovering at home, I had a pulmonary embolism. It gave me a taste of what a lung muscle crisis might feel like. Let’s just say I’m glad I live 5 minutes from an emergency room. People with autoimmune diseases have much to contribute to our society; we are not expendable.
